Despite the fierce competition between Facebook and Snapchat, and the fact that Snapchat is stifled by its un-algorithmic feed, the single app Snapchat itself currently has 158 million daily active users and continues to attract new users every day. If your nonprofit organization is trying to continue to engage users, you may need to think about using additional features besides "Snaps" and "Stories".

 

Facebook Launches Augmented Reality Camera Effects Developer Platform

Based on the premise that AR (Augmented Reality) will be adopted in more ways than just social media camera filters, Zuckerberg sees three main areas of opportunity for AR experiences (from left on image above): Overlaying information, adding virtual objects, and enhancing real objects. Zuckerberg talked about practical future use of AR technology at the Facebook F8 Conference.

Throughout January and February of 2017, Edison Research conducted a national telephone survey on podcast use around the country. Interesting findings include:

  • Podcasting continues to rise, with monthly listeners growing from 21% to 24% year over year
  • Clicking on a podcast to listen to it immediately (either streamed or via progressive download) is the main way people listen
  • 27% of respondents subscribe to podcasts
  • Podcast users are also more likely to follow brands on social media.
